Discernment

Unlike making an intellectual decision, discernment is a spiritual function of assessing validity arrived at by using undefined (spiritual) abilities.  As such there usually isn’t any solid proof only the feeling of correctness or a lack of it which makes discernment subject to our individual interpretation.  It doesn’t matter what the subject is, it could be physical in nature or conceptual our discernment is available to us.  Invoking our discernment engages the higher senses calling for us to be aware of the sometimes subtle feedback of our intuition while at other times the feedback is very strong to a point of being an undeniable response to whatever is going on.

An intellectual decision is usually based in/on logic calling for a comparison with a similar situation and discernment doesn’t which the intellect and the intellectual would call irrational behavior.  Discernment steps beyond logic into an area of uncertainty for many lacking any defined how, what or why which is demanded by logic to function yet with practice we become comfortable using our discernment.  Sometimes discernment is referred to as something rubs us the wrong way, this is the undefined but noticeable discernment bringing up a response for us to be aware of.  This is not to be confused with having a situation “pushing our button” to which we react in a preprogrammed way due to an unresolved past issue.

Not using or being aware of our discernment will cause us to accept false information as truth or be involved in situations which are not in our highest good.
